Basically, in the middle ages it was perceived as a Christian sin to charge interest on anything… Including money. However, the monarchs realised that the ability to charge interest was essential for a healthy economy (For what other reason would somebody give you lots of money to pay for your armies?)
Jews were the loophole, they were allowed to charge interest because they weren’t Christian. They were the money lenders of the middle ages, and some Christian Lords were even granted “temporary Jewness” so that they could charge interest without risking their Christian beliefs (Shh, just go along with it).
In modern times, the general Jewish economic advantage is strengthened by tight communities who help each other out with interest free investments. They also place a high value on Education, naturally leading to more money.
To clarify, not all jews are rich. However as a demographic they are significantly more likely to be rich that people of other religions.
